Police arrest 2 women raiding militant den in Meherpur
Police today arrested two presumed women militants raiding a hideout of theirs at Bamondi village of Gangni upazila in Meherpur, reports BSS.
“We arrested the two women Mabia Khatun and her daughter Rajani along with two minor girls,” Meherpur’s Police superintendent Anisur Rahman told newsmen saying the two women were aged about 40 and 28 while they hailed from neighbouring Kushtia’s daulatpur upazila.
He said a police team cordoned off the two-storied building at the village around 11 am responding to a secret tip-off suggesting militants’ presence there.
“At one stage the two women along with two children came out of the building giving them up to be arrested along with two 2-year-old girls,” he said.
The district police chief said no explosives were found from the house.
Rajani and her husband small trader Abbas Ali rented the house one year ago and they have been residing there since then. But Rajani’s mother Mabia came to the house just 15 days ago, he added.
