Speaker Shirim Sharmin calls on Vietnamese President

Vietnamese President Tran Dai Quang today put emphasis on taking up a work-plan between Bangladesh and Vietnam on agricultural development.

He said the two countries can be benefited through technical cooperation in this regard.

The President came up with the remarks when Bangladesh Jatiya Sangsad (JS) Speaker and CPA Executive Committee Chairperson Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhrury paid a courtesy call on him at his office in Hanoi, according to a message received here today.

Quang expressed his keenness to import jute and jute products, medicines, agricultural products and equipments from Bangladesh.

He said Bangladesh and Vietnam both have attained economic development from the debris of war-torn countries.

The president expressed his hope that friendly relations between the two countries would play an important role to the economic development.

Dr Shirin said Vietnam is true friend of Bangladesh. She recalled the recognition given by Vietnam to newly independent Bangladesh after the Liberation War and friendship between Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and Vietnamese great leader Ho Chi Minh.
