19,500 school buildings to be constructed in current fiscal: Nahid

Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid today said around 19,500 school buildings would be constructed during the current fiscal.

"Four-storied buildings would be constructed at upazila level while it will be eight-storied buildings at district level and ten-storied buildings at divisional level," he said while addressing a function held at the auditorium of Dhaka Reporters Unity (DRU) as the chief guest.

DRU organized the function on the occasion of award-giving ceremony for the meritorious students who passed in Primary Education Completion (PEC) and Junior School Certificate (JSC).

DRU President Shakhawat Hossain Badsha presided over the meeting while DRU General Secretary Mursalin Nomani conducted the function.

Dhaka Union of Journalists (DUJ) President Shaban Mahmud, DRU Vice-President Abu Darda Jubayer, journalists Shah Newaj Dulal, Harun Jamil, Suraiya Munni and Sabina Yeasmin, among others, addressed the function.

Nahid said the future of a nation is dependent on how to build the new generation.

"We have to change our thoughts, values and mentality in building a developed Bangladesh," he said.
