Students clash with cops at Shahbagh, 11 detained

A group of students of seven government colleges that have recently been affiliated with Dhaka University clashed with police while staging demonstration in the capital’s Shahbagh demanding announcement of dates and schedule for their examinations on Thursday.

A total of 11 students were detained in this connection.

Confirming the matter to Jagonews24.com,  Shafiqul Islam, Sub Inspector of Shahbagh Police Station said that, they detained the students for obstructing police duty.

According to source, the students formed a human chain and staged a sit-in at Shahbagh intersection, before policemen charged batons and tear shells to disperse them from the spot.

The students were from Dhaka College, Eden Mohila College, Government Shaheed Suhrawrdy College, Kabi Nazrul Government College, Begum Badrunnesa Government Mohila College, Mirpur Government Bangla College, and Government Titumir College.
