Imran H Sarker gets bail upon surrender

A Dhaka court on Sunday granted bail to Ganajagaran Manch spokesperson Imran H Sarker and cultural activist Sanatan Ullash in a defamation case filed for their ‘derogatory’ remarks about Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate SM Masud Zaman passed the order after they surrendered before it seeking bail in the case.

On May 28, Bangladesh Chhatra League education and study circle secretary Golam Rabbani filed the case against the duo with the court.

According to the case statement, Imran and Sanatan chanted defamatory slogans against the prime minister over the removal of Greek goddess Themis from the Supreme Court premises.
