Two divisional cities will have old homes: minister

Social Welfare Minister Nuruzzaman Ahmed today said the government is actively considering building of new old homes in two divisional cities.

The minister said this in the Jatiya Sangsad while replying to a starred question from treasury bench member Safura Begum (women seat-2).

Besides, the government has taken a decision in principally to reopen six old homes along with safe homes, said the minister.

Earlier, the Social Service Department launched six old homes in six divisions between the year 1999 and June 2001.

Later, the old homes were transformed into 'safe home' as per the government decision, the minister added.
