HC stays Gazipur mayor Mannan’s suspension order

The High Court (HC) on Sunday stayed for three months a government order suspending Gazipur City Corporation (GCC) Mayor MA Mannan, reports BSS.

A High Court division bench comprising Justice Syed Muhammad Dastagir Husain and Justice Md. Ataur Rahman Khan passed the order after holding primary hearing on a writ filed by Mannan, challenging the legality of the government order.

The court also asked the authorities concerned not to obstruct Mannan in continuing his job as the GCC mayor.

Local Government Division on July 6 suspended MA Mannan as a court took into cognizance the charge sheet filed against him in a graft case.
