JS set to pass budget

The parliament is set to pass the national budget for the next fiscal beginning July 1 on Thursday.

Finance Minister Abul Maal Abdul Muhith will propose passage of the budget with a volume of over Tk 4,00,266 crore.

The sitting of the sixteen session (Budget session) of the 10th parliament resumed at 10.05 am with Speaker Dr. Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury in the chair.

Muhith proposed the biggest-ever national budget for fiscal year 2017-18 on June 1 saying he is placing this budget at a ‘historic juncture’ of economic development.

Finance Minister in his 11th budget at the House, proposed a single and uniform VAT rate of 15 percent for next three years in the new budget.
