War crimes charges against 9 Mymensingh, Jamalpur men
The prosecution at the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) on Monday filed formal charges against nine men from Mymensingh and Jamalpur, pressing eight war crimes charges against them.
“We have submitted the formal charges along with other documents at the ICT-1 and the two-member tribunal set July 10 to pass order whether to take the charges into cognizance,” said prosecutor Abul Kalam.
The accused are - Suruj Ali Fakir, 62, Abdus Salam, 75, Rustam Ali, 70, Joyen Uddin Faruki alias Joynal Abedin, 60, Abdur Rahim alias Abdur Rahim Master, 67, Jalal Uddin, 59, Shamsher Kakir, 66, Shamsul Haque, 70, and Fazlul Haque. Of them, Kakir, Shamsul and Fazlul are still at large.
The prosecutor said they have brought charges of genocide, murder, rape, confinement and torture against them.
Advocates Abdus Subhan Tarafder and Muzahidul Islam Shahin were present on behalf of the defence today.
The ICT investigation agency on March 29 released its probe report in the case.
