Court accepts Banani rape charge-sheet

A Dhaka court on Monday took cognisance of the charges against five people in the Banani rape case.

Judge Md Shafiul Azam of Second Tribunal for Prevention of Women and Children Repression in Dhaka passed the order against the accused and fixed July 9 for hearing on charge framing in the case.  

Earlier Judge Md Shafiul Azam fixed the date asking the jail authorities to produce all the five charge-sheeted accused before the court on June 19.

On June 8, police submitted a charge-sheet against five people: Safat Ahmed, Sadman Sakif, Nayeem Ashraf, Safat’s driver Billal Hossain and bodyguard Abul Kalam Azad in the case.

It is mentionable that, two female university students were raped at the Raintree Hotel in Banani on March 28. Later they filed a case against them with Banani Police Station on May 6.
