Musa Ibrahim rescued

Bangladesh’s first Mount Everest conqueror Musa Ibrahim has been rescued after five days he had gotten trapped at the base camp of Mount Carstensz Pyramid in Papua New Guinea due to bad weather.

In his Facebook account-Musa Ibrahim wrote at 6:06am on Monday - “Just arrived Timika airport. Allah is so kind. We returned safe. See you insha allah....”

State Minister for Foreign Affairs Mohammed Shahriar Alam posted the information on his Facebook account early Monday.

The minister posted a status on the social media saying that he was finally going to sleep after hearing the good news it would take rescue team around ten minutes to shift Musa to safe zone.

The state minister also posted a satellite message sent by Musa: “So many stories will b untold & will never be mentioned documented or to be told but will be in our heart. The adventures of carstensz pyramid once upon a time”.

On May 30, Musa left Dhaka for his new expedition ‘Bangladesh-India Friendship’ to scale up Carstensz Pyramid, the highest mountain in Australia and Oceania (4,884 metre).

He and the two Indian mountaineers - Satyarup Siddhanta and Nandita Chandra Shekhar - began the expedition on June 1 and were expected to finish by June 18.
