Two cleaners die inhaling toxic gas
Two safety tank cleaners died after inhaling toxic gas while cleaning safety tank of a latrine in Radhaballov area in Rangpur on Friday, police sources said.
The deceased were identified as Gauranga, 35, son of Kandura of village Panapukur and Hassan, 30, son of Abdul Kafi of village Dakshin Panapukur under Gangachara upazila in the district.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Kotwali Police Station ABM Zahidul Islam said the tragic incident occurred soon after the cleaners started cleaning the safety tank at the house of contactor Md Mukid in the area in the afternoon.
“Both the cleaners died on the spot after inhaling toxic gas,” the OC said, adding that police recovered the bodies and sent those to Rangpur Medical College Hospital morgue for conducting autopsy.
“An unnatural death case has been lodged in this connection with Kotwali police station,” the OC added.
