Mother, three children found dead at Turag
A woman and her three children were found dead at their residence at Kaliertek in Turag here early today.
The deceased were identified as Rehena Parvin, 38, wife of Mostafa Kamal and her daughters, Santa, 12, Shefa, 8, and eight-month-old son Saad.
Police, however, could not confirm whether it was suicide or murder.
Rehena’s husband Mostafa Kamal went outside of the house after Iftar and returned there at around 12:30am and found his wife’s body hanging from the ceiling of a room and bodies of the children lying on the floor in another room of their rented house, said Office-in-Charge (OC) of Turag Police Station Mahbub-e-Khuda.
Police recovered the bodies and sent those to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) morgue for autopsy, the OC said, adding that law enforcers were investigating the incident.
On information, high officials of police, RAB and DB police, including Additional Police Commissioner of Uttara police Shahen Shah Mahmud, have visited the spot.
Mahbub Alam Sagar, elder brother of Rehena, alleged that she had been tortured by her in-laws for long as they wanted to grab her property.
Being repressed by them, she was compelled to commit suicide after killing her three children, he added.
“We did not get any evidence of killing ....but during primary investigation, it was found that the mother committed suicide after allegedly killing her three children,” said Shahen Shah Mahmud, additional commissioner of Uttara police division.
Police will come to know the detail of the deaths after receiving the autopsy report, he added.
