Steps taken for smooth travel to home on Eid-ul-Fitr: PM
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Wednesday hoped that journey to home by the people on the occasion of the holy Eid this year would be better than past as the government has taken all measures for their smooth travel, reports BSS.
Replying to a scripted question from lawmaker of Tarikat Federation M A Awal in the parliament, the Prime Minister said the government has issued a 29-point directives to make safe the travel of people in the highways marking the holy month of Ramadan and Eid-ul-Fitr.
The directives have the necessary guidelines for repairing the highways, keeping the national and regional highways free from congestion, maintaining discipline in bus terminals, stop parking every where, keeping CNG stations open round the clock, stop plying of three-wheelers in 22 nationals highways, special BRTC service and increasing the number of ferry services, she said.
Sheikh Hasina said the garment owners were asked to give Eid vacation and open the factories after Eid in different days so that they do not occur any pressure on public transport during Eid time. In case of any big accident, she said, helicopter would be used for rescue operation and clear off the road.
The Prime Minister said a central control room would be set up at BRTA head office four-day ahead of the Eid day and it will remain open next four days after the Eid.
