Naryan Chandra for crab farming to become self-reliant
State Minister for Fisheries and Livestock Naryan Chandra Chanda today underscored the need for increasing crab farming to help make the country economically self-reliant.
He said that the present government now emphasized on crab and eel farming side by side with fisheries.
The state minister was addressing the inaugural ceremony of a three-day long farmers training on crab farming at Dumuria Upazila Fisheries Office cum Training Center.
He said that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is working relentlessly to implement Bangabandhu`s dream of turning Bangladesh into a self-reliant nation.
The state minister said the country will be turned into a middle income country by 2021 and a developed country by 2041.
Organised by Dumuria Upazila Fisheries Office, Deputy Director of Fisheries Department of Khulna division Ranjeet Kumar Paul, Dumuria Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Md. Ashek Hassan, Project Director of Crabs and Eel farming Dr. Binoy Kumar Chakrabarty and former president of Upazila unit Awami League Shah Newaz Hossain, addressed as special guests with District Fisheries Officer Md. Shamim Haider in the chair.
