4.68 lakh people shifted from cyclone-hit areas
Around 4.68 lakh people of cyclone `Mora` affected areas have been shifted to different shelter centers.
Additional Secretary of the Disaster Management and Relief Ministry Golam Mostafa said this to the newsmen at a press conference held at the secretariat.
He said a woman died at Chakaria upazila as the cyclone `Mora` caused landfall today after it crossed the coast of Chittagong.
The deceased was Sayra Khatun, wife of Nurul Islam of Shikderbari village in Chakaria upazila of Cox`s Bazar district, Mostafa said.
The detailed estimated cost of damages is yet to known, he said, adding the local administrations have been asked to prepare the total costs of damages soon.
The additional secretary said the government has already allocated 1,400 tons of rice for the cyclone affected people and Taka 1.46 crore instantly.
