Police defuse grenades seized from Savar militant den

Police have already defused two grenades out of seven and three suicidal vests recovered from a militant den at Savar, on the outskirts of the capital.

“Bomb disposal unit has already defused two grenades after recovering seven grenades, three suicidal vests, four empty suicidal vests, two laptops and explosives from a flat of a five-storey under construction building at Madhya Ganda, Savar, “ additional superintendent of police (Detective Branch) of Dhaka district Golam Azad Khan told BSS this afternoon.

A joint team of Dhaka district police and Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit besieged the house since 9pm on Friday suspecting it a militant den and started operation in the hideout around 10.30 this morning, he also said.

“Two persons including a man and a woman were residing in the three-room flat,” he said, adding that they have already searched two rooms of the flat while another room is still under lock and key.”

Police on Friday night searched another four-storey house of Ganda area suspecting it militant a den but found nothing there.
