BRTC to run 900 additional buses during Eid: Quader
Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader on Wednesday said Bangladesh Road Transport Corporation (BRTC) will run 900 additional buses across the country to ensure smooth journey for the passengers during the upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr.
“More 50 BRTC buses will be kept standby for any situation at Mohakhali, Jatrabari, Gabtali and Sayedabad bus terminals until the day before the Eid-ul-Fitr,” he said at a view exchange meeting at the BRTC Kamalapur Bus Depot in the city.
The minister said three monitoring teams of BRTC will be on duty to stop taking additional fares from passengers during the Eid.
Besides, four technical teams consisting of five technicians will remain standby at Tangail, Bogra, Rangpur and Kanchpur Bridge for ensuring smooth journey of the home-goers during the Eid, he added.
Besides, the sale of advance BRTC bus tickets will begin seven days before the Eid and the special bus services will continue till three days after the Eid, he said.
Quader said 600 buses and 500 trucks will be imported from India under the 2nd Indian Line of Credit (LoC) in December next.
Earlier, the minister handed over cheques for pension and gratuity to 21 retired BRTC employees.
BRTC Chairman Md Mizanur Rahman also spoke in the meeting while BRTC senior officials were present.
