HC orders to remove Tridib Roy’s name from installations
The High Court (HC) on Monday ordered the officials concerned to remove name of former Chakma King Tridib Roy from all the installations in the country within 90 days for his anti-liberation role in 1971.
A High Court division bench comprising Justice Quazi Reza-Ul Hoque and Justice Mohammad Ullah passed the order after holding hearing on a writ petition filed on May 21.
Advocate Sharif Ahmed moved the petition before the court, saying Roy played monstrous role in 1971, causing deaths of many people in the Chittagong Hill Tracts area as he sided with the Pakistani occupation army.
According to the sources, Roy fled to Pakistan during the fag end of the War of Liberation and worked as diplomat for the country.
