UAE to lift visa restrictions on Bangladeshis

United Arab Emirates (UAE) will withdraw the restriction on visas for Bangladeshi male migrant workers, said Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment Minister Nurul Islam BSc.

UAE Human Resource and Development Affairs Minister Sakar Saeed Ghobash gave a positive signal to reopen visas for Bangladeshi workers, Nurul Islam said while talking with the officials of Bangladesh’s Embassy in Abu Dhabi on Tuesday.

“We will get the result within next week,” the minister replied to a query by reporters.

Mentioning that UAE asked Bangladesh to repatriate workers living in the country illegally, he directed embassy officials to maintain communication with the local ministries.

UAE had stopped issuing all kinds of entry permits for Bangladeshi passport holders because of security concerns over identification and fake documents in 2012.
