University teachers suspend agitation

Public university teachers on Tuesday suspended their ongoing strike demanding an end to discrepancies in the pay scale.
The decision came from a meeting of the Federation of Bangladesh University Teachers’ Association (FBUTA) at Muzaffar Ahmed Chowdhury Auditorium of the social science faculty of the DU.
They said, the prime minister has assured us of reaching a solution about the demand of a separate pay scale.
Prof Maksud said, we will hold an evaluation meeting on February 3. We will go back to our protest programme if we don’t see any progress in meeting our demands.
