“Rapists” Safat, Sadman remanded

Safat Ahmed and his accomplice Sadman Sakif have been remanded in a case filed over raping two university girls in Banani.

Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court (CMM) granted six days remand for Safat and five days for Sadman respectively .

Judge Raihanul Islam of the court granted the remand on Friday after Ismat Ara, Inspector of Women Support and Investigation Division and also the investigation officer of the case, produced them before the court seeking 10-day remand.

On Thursday night law enforcers brought Shafat and Sakif, who are among the five accused of raping the two university girls, to Dhaka after arresting them in Sylhet.

A police team from Dhaka conducted a raid at a house “Rashid Manzil” in Pathantola area of Sylhet city around 9pm to arrest the two accused.

On May 6, the two young women filed a case with Banani police against Shafaat Ahmed, 26, Nayeem Ashraf, 30, Sadman Sakif, 24, and Billal, 26, for allegedly raping them on March 28 at Raintree Hotel in Banani after a birthday party.
