Police files chargesheet against 11-month boy and dead man
A police officer in Dhaka filed a chargesheet against an 11-month-old boy and a dead man in connection with a case filed over fighting and theft.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Khurshid Alam on Tuesday summoned Maruful Islam, a sub inspector of Mirpur Police Station, to appear at the court on May 16 and sought the explanation why they were included in the charge sheet.
Earlier, defence lawyer Shafiqul Islam moved a petition before the court seeking punishment against the officer and the complainant.
SI Maruful on February 17, 2017 pressed charges against 23 people including the baby and one Arifur Rahman.
Habibur Rahman filed the case over fighting and theft against them on June 26, 2016 while the baby was only 20-day old. The baby, Rubel, was born on June 6 in last year and Arifur died on 31 July, 2013.
The boy’s father Abul Kashem told Jago News, “My son Rubel was 20-day old when a case was filed against him. I cannot understand how such a little boy can thieve.”
