5 JMB activists get 10 years in jail

Five activists of banned militant outfit Jamaatul Mujaheedin Bangladesh (JMB) have been given ten years in jail for the 2005 bombings in Rangamati, which were part of the countrywide serial explosions.

Rangamati’s Joint District and Sessions Judge Md. Azizul Haque found five guilty and acquitted one from the charges.

JMB orchestrated these explosions on Aug 17, 2005 at more than 600 locations in 63 districts .

Three bombs exploded in Rangamati on that day.

Police arrested and pressed charges against six persons over the blasts at the hill tract district.
