"Social awareness must to stop child labour"
Experts, professionals and senior journalists at a workshop today stressed on creating mass awareness and proper execution of child labour law to prevent all sorts of child labours in the society.
"Child labour can be stopped if mass people alongside the media persons help flourish humanity in their thoughts and spirits," Managing Director and Chief Editor of Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS) Abul Kalam Azad told the workshop.
He also underscored the need for changing mindset to protect the rights of children in the society where journalists can play a very conducive role simultaneously with the government`s initiatives in this regard.
BSS organised the workshop on "Role of Journalists to Prevent Child Labour" at the seminar room of Bangladesh Press Institute (PIB).
Prof Mofizur Rahman, head of Dhaka University`s Mass Communication and Journalism Department, Prof Dr Shahnaj Huda, head of law department of DU, Managing Editor of BSS Shahriar Shahid, Chief Reporter Md Ashequn Nabi Chowdhury and convener of Children Affairs Journalists Network Mahfuza Jesmin, among others, spoke there.
The speakers categorically laid emphasis on the social protest and awareness so that no child would be the victim of vulnerable jobs or activities that clash with the existing laws of the land.
