Girls eclipse boys in SSC exams
The girls outshone the boys in the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and equivalent examinations held from February to March this year.
While 80.78 percent girls passed the examination, the boys percentage is 79.93 percent.
This year, 17,86,613 students - 9,10,501 boys and 8,76,112 girls - participated in the examinations under the 10 education boards.
Announcing the results, Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid on Thursday said the overall pass percentage of the students is 80.35 percent.
The pass rate in SSC alone is 81.21 percent. In eight general boards, the number of GPA 5 achievers stood at 97,964.
In vocational exams, the overall pass rate is 78.69 percent. In madrassa, the pass rate is 76.20 percent.
A total of 1,0,4761 students got the highest Grade Point Average (GPA-5) in the examinations, according to the Education Ministry.
Beginning on February 2, the written examinations ended on March 2.
Last year, a total of 14,52,605 students out of 16,45,201 passed the examinations with 88.29% pass rate.
