Tripped line causes power outages in northern-southern regions

Power production in northern and southern regions of the country came to a halt as the national grid’s Ghorasal-Ishwardi 230-kilovolt transmission line tripped during repair of Ashuganj-Sirajganj transmission line damaged by a storm on Monday.

The line tripped around 11:00 am on Tuesday and transmission will resume by the afternoon, said a top level official of Power Grid Company of Bangladesh (PGCB).

“Efforts to repair the broken lines are ongoing,” he said.
