NGOs urged to stand beside Haor people

Speakers at a seminar titled ‘What to do for flood-hit people in Haor areas’ here on Sunday urged the Non Government Organizations (NGOs) to stand beside the flood affected people in Haor areas, reports BSS.

The speakers said the NGOs should quickly start their post flood rehabilitation programmes in the Haor areas in line with the government’s post flood rehabilitation programmes for mitigating the sufferings of the flood-hit people.

Jonouddug Netrakona, a local voluntary organization organized the seminar at the conference room of Netrakona Durbar Gustee at Muktarpara here today.

Deputy Commissioner of Netrakona Dr. Musfiqur Rahman addressed the seminar as chief guest while president of the Jonouddug Netrakona professor Kamruzzaman Chowdhory was in the chair.

General Secretary of Netrakona press club Shamolendu Paul presented the key note paper at the seminar.

It was addressed, among others, by vice president of the Netrakona press club Haider Jahan Chowdhory, former secretary of Netrakona press club M Faqrul Haque, freedom fighter Anisur Rahman, senior lawyer Advocate Amirul Islam, general secretary of Netrakona Mohila parishad Taheza Begum, journalists Sanjor Sarker and AKM Abdullah.
