4 devotees die at Ijtema ground

At least four devotees were died on the Bishwa Ijtema grounds on Saturday night and early on Sunday.

The deceased are Nurul Alam, 70, a resident of the village of Natherpetura at Monohorganj upazila in Comilla, Abdul Mabud Joardar, 52, a resident of Badurtala area of Chuadanga Sadar, and Abdul Quader, 60, a resident of Char Adra village at Sharishabari in Jamalpur and Akhlakh Mia, from Sunamganj.

Nurul Alam and Abdul Mabud died on Saturday night while Abdul Quder died in the early hours of Sunday.

Akhlakh died undergoing treatment in a Dhaka hospital on Sunday morning.

The second phase of Biswa Ijtema, one of the largest congregations of Muslims in the world, was concluded on Sunday with the offering of final prayer.
