Indian medical visas norms relaxed

Norms for medical visas in India have been liberalized for Bangladesh nationals in an effort to further strengthen people-to-people ties of the two countries.

The decision has come following the announcement during the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina`s official visit to India from April 7 to 10 this year, said Indian High Commission release today.

Henceforth, Bangladesh nationals visiting India for diagnosis will be eligible for Medical Visa.

Proof of confirmation of appointment in a recognized Indian hospital and diagnosis of illness from doctors in Bangladesh reflecting the ailment should be attached along with the medical visa application form.

Other rules and conditions for grant of Medical Visa shall remain unchanged, the release added.

Medical visa applications are being accepted on a walk-in basis at IVAC Gulshan in Dhaka and all IVACs outside Dhaka. Detailed information in this regard is available on the following website www.ivacbd.com, it said.
