Niko graft proceedings to continue against Moudud

The High Court (HC) today paved way to continue proceedings of Niko graft case against Moudud Ahmed as it dismissed a stay rule issued earlier in this regard.

“As a result of today’s order, there is no legal bar in continuing the proceedings of the case,” said ACC counsel Khurshid Alam Khan.

A High Court division bench comprising Justice Obaidul Hassan and Justice Krishna Debnath passed the order.

Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) filed the case on December 9, 2007, against 11 persons including BNP chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia and Moudud Ahmed, accusing them of incurring a loss of Taka 137 billion to the state exchequer by penning a deal with Canadian company Niko for exploring and extracting gas.
