Saudi imams visit Padma bridge construction site

The visiting Saudi imams and other dignitaries today went to the Padma Bridge construction site at Shimulia and enjoyed the natural beauty in the area.

Vice-President of two holy mosques in Mecca and Madina Dr Mohammad Bin Nasser Bin Mohammad Al Khuzaim and Imam and Khatib of Masjid-e Nababi (the Prophet`s mosque) Abdulmehsin bin Mohammad Bin Abdul Rahman Al-Qasim led the delegation, said an official release.

Shipping Minister Shajahan Khan and Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC) Chairman Engr. Jnan Ranjan Sil warmly received the delegation at Mawa-Shimulia Ghat.

Religious Affairs Minister Principal Matior Rahman, Member of Parliament Professor Dr Abu Reza Muhammad Nezamuddin Nadvi, Awami League (AL) Religious Affairs Secretary Sheikh Md Abdullah, Additional Secretary of Shipping Ministry Md Rafiqul Islam, Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA) Chairman Commodore Mohammad Mozammel Haque and Islamic Foundation Director General Shamim Mohammad Afzal were present on the occasion.

The Saudi guests traveled through the Padma River by a special ship of BIWTC.

They were impressed observing the natural beauty and enjoying Islamic cultural performances in the ship by children, the release said.
