Kolkata-Khulna Maitree Train-2 leaves Bangladesh

The Kolkata-Khulna Maitree Train-2 left Khulna this morning on a trial run with passengers.

Decorating with flower, festoons and other beautiful elements, the train left Khulna Railway Station around 8.10am when people from all walks of life in the city expressed jubilation waving hands at passengers of the Maitree train.

A high ranking railway official team of Bangladesh, Mizanur Rahman Mizan, chairman of Parliamentary Standing Committee on Railway Ministry, and a good number of freedom fighters are going to Benapole by the train as passengers.

Khulna Railway Station Master Kazi Amirul Islam and local people bade farewell to the train.

The decorated train comprises five bogies will reach Shialdha Station in Kolkata this afternoon through Jessore, Benapole of Bangladesh and Petrapole and Bongha of India.

Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi will jointly inaugurate the trial run of Maitree Train--2 from New Delhi through video conferencing at Benapole land port, Mizanur Rahman Mizan told BSS over mobile phone.

The Maitree Express-2 is expected to left Shildah tomorrow morning and reach Khulna in the afternoon.
