BGB-MPF border conference begins in city on Saturday

A six-day conference between Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and Myanmar Police Force (MPF) begins tomorrow at the BGB headquarters in the city.

The high-level border conference, however, will formally start at 9.30 am on April 2, said a BGB release here today.

A six-member MPF delegation led by Chief of Police General Staff Brigadier General Myo Swe Win will arrive in Dhaka tomorrow morning to join the conference.

On the other hand, a 16-member delegation led by Additional Director General Md Anisur Rahman will represent the BGB in the conference, according to the release.

High officials of Home Ministry, Foreign Ministry, Survey of Bangladesh, Bangladesh Coast Guard and Department of Narcotic Control (DNC) will also attend the conference.

The meeting will discuss various issues, including the killing of innocent Bangladeshis along the border and trespassing Bangladesh territory by Myanmar nationals.

The conference would also hold discussions on smuggling of drugs, especially yaba, from Myanmar.
