‘Operation Maximus’ underway at Borohat ‘militant den’

Joint forces launched an operation at the suspected militant den at Borohat in Moulvibazar Sadar upazila on Friday morning.

The Assault operation has been named as “Operation Maximus”.

Sounds of sporadic gunshots were heard in the area. Earlier, the Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team reached the spot in the morning.

The operation began around 8am at the hideout; some 20km from Nasirpur, where seven to eight suspected militants were killed in “Operation Hit Back’ that ended on Thursday night.

Meanwhile, the local administration banned public gathering at Borohat area from 9 am today to avoid any kind of casualties.

It is mentionable that, police cordoned off the hideout since early Tuesday suspecting that several militants might stay there.
