Tanneries will be shut down if not shifted within 72 hours: Amu

Industries Minister Amir Hossain Amu on Sunday directed to shut down if the factories are not shifted within 72 hours.

Amu said if any tannery owner fails to relocate the factory within 72 hours, his allotted plot in Savar tannery estate will also be cancelled.

The minister also asked BSCIC to send legal notice to the tannery owners by Sunday.

He said this at a meeting with Bangladesh Small and Cottage Industries Corporation at the conference room of the Ministry of Industry.

Earlier, the government had given the owners until Dec 31 of last year to shift their factories.
