ACC chief for creating corruption-free environment
Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) Chairman Iqbal Mahmud today said all sections of society including civil society, professionals, intellectuals, students and teachers should be involved in efforts to combat corruption.
“An atmosphere should be created with coordinated efforts of all so none can dare to get involved in corruption,” he said while leading an anti-corruption human chain in front of Jatiya Press Club here as part of the programme of Corruption Prevention Week-2017.
The corruption prevention week, organised by the ACC, started on March 26 with the theme “If corruption ends, I`ll survive and so will do the country”.
The ACC chairman said the main objective of the human chain is to say `no` to corruption and to create awareness among the students about the negative impact of corruption.
Iqbal Mahmud said the corrupt people who fled the country would be brought to justice and the commission is looking into ways to bring them back from abroad.
Among others, ACC commissioner AFM Aminul Islam, secretary Abu M Mustaf Kamal and director general Dr M Shamsul Arefin joined the human chain.
