EC behaves cruelly with AL candidate in CCC polls: HT Imam
Prime Minister’s Political Adviser HT Imam today said the Election Commission (EC), in the name of playing a neutral role, is behaving cruelly with the Awami League candidate in Comilla City Corporation (CCC) polls slated for Thursday.
“In the name of showing neutrality , the EC has become rude to Awami League,” he told journalists after a meeting with Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) KM Nurul Huda at the EC Secretariat at Agargaon here.
The PM’s adviser, however, categorically said the Awami League will provide all-out cooperation to the EC in holding CCC polls in a smooth and peaceful manner.
Replying to a query, Imam said, “We have objections regarding neutrality of some 15 to 16 presiding officers in Comilla. We urged the EC to take necessary actions after investigation.”
Meanwhile, EC Secretary Mohammad Abdullah told journalists that the commission has meantime done everything necessary to ensure a level-playing field for a free, fair and acceptable CCC election.
“The election will be free and fair,” he asserted and urged all concerned to provide necessary cooperation to the authorities concerned.
