The publication ceremony of "Karagarer Rojnamcha (Diary in Jail), the second autobiography of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, will be held in the capital on Tuesday.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is scheduled to unwrap the cover of the book as the chief guest at the Krishibid Institution, Bangladesh auditorium at Farmgate in the capital.

Bangabandhu`s younger daughter and Co-chairperson of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Memorial Trust, Sheikh Rehana, will be present at the function as the special guest, while Emeritus Professor Rafiqul Islam will preside over it.

Eminent historians Professor Syed Anwar Hossain and Professor Muntasir Mamun will take part in the discussion on the book, while Bangla Academy Director General Professor Shamsuzzaman Khan will deliver the welcome address.

Bangle Academy published the 332-page book on the occasion of the 98th birthday of Bangabandhu on March 17. In the book, Bangabandhu particularly described events and experiences of his imprisonment from 1966 to 1968.

On March 15, Bangla Academy DG Shamsuzzaman Khan handed over the copies of the book to Sheikh Hasina and Sheikh Rehana, two surviving daughters of Bangabandhu, at Ganabhaban, the official residence of the prime minister.

Speaking on the occasion, the prime minister said the then Pakistan government seized two dairies written by Bangabandhu when he was released in December 1969.

"However one of the diaries was recovered with the help of the Special Branch after her Awami League government came to power in 2009," she said, thanking Bangla Academy for publishing the book.
