Raid in Sylhet militant hideout underway

Para-commandos of Bangladesh Army have started a drive “Twilight” at a den of militants in Shibbari area of Sylhet. The operation is underway.

The operation, led by GOC of 17 Infantry Division Major General Anwarul Momen, began at the five-storey building “Atia Mahal” around 8:30am on Saturday morning.

Army confirmed the matter to newsmen at a press briefing around 9:45am.

Earlier, journalists and local people were kept 1km away from the spot.

Meanwhile, Monirul Islam, chief of the Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), reached at the spot by a white colour car to observe the situation around 3:15am on Saturday.
