Bangladesh to get a grant from Japan for zoo development
Bangladesh will get a grant worth of $60,291 (Tk. 48,34,000) from Japan to develop audio-visual system at National Zoo.
The audio-visual system will be used for training and awareness building activities on protection of wildlife animals, bio-diversity and environment.
Japan will award the grant under “Grants assistance for cultural grassroots projects” and an agreement was signed in this regard.
Japanese Ambassador in Dhaka Masato Watanabe and National Zoo curator Dr. SM Nazrul Islam inked the deal on behalf of respective sides at the embassy on Thursday.
The two countries pledged to expand the sector of mutual communication and assistance between citizens of them during official visit of Prime Minister Sheikh to Japan in 2014.
Zoo curator Dr. SM Nazrul Islam thanked the government and the citizens of Japan for the grant.
He hoped that zoo visitors, students and researchers would be benefited from the audio-visual system.
