HC stays FBCCI polls for two-month
The High Court (HC) on Wednesday stayed for two months the election of Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI).
“A High Court division bench comprising Justice Md Ashfaqul Islam and Justice Ashish Ranjan Das passed the order after holding hearing on a writ petition filed by Mymensingh Chambers of Commerce and Industry president Aminul Huq,” said Barrister Badruddoza Babu, counsel of the petitioner.
Though as per the rule, a director should be nominated from each division. But no director from the newly-formed division Mymensingh was nominated for the upcoming polls. So the Mymensingh chamber president filed the writ in protest.
The election was scheduled to be held on May 14.
