PM directs to set up escalator in higher secondary schools

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina directed the authorities concerned to set up escalator instead of elevator in all government higher secondary schools in the country, Planning Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal said.

The planning minister made the remark while addressing a press conference after a meeting of Executive Committee of National Economic Council (ECNEC) at its conference room at city’s Sher-e-Bangla Nagar on Tuesday.

He said that premier, also the ECNEC chairperson, directed to make lawn in all schools to make easy trespass from one class room to another.

Kamal informed that the ECNEC meeting approved a project, an estimated cost of 4,640 crore, to develop government schools in the country.

ECNEC meeting also approved a total of 9 projects involving Tk 1, 23,034 crore. The government will pay 1, 04,186.77 crore while foreign aid will bear 18, 847.23 crore, he added.
