Dhaka commuters suffer for prolonged development works

Dhaka dwellers are suffering hard as unplanned digging and renovation of roads and sewerage line make most of the city roads unusable.

In some parts of the city, construction of roads and other utilities go on a very slow pace causing suffering to the people.

Rainy season has not yet started but city dwellers’ sufferings have started. Dwellers experienced submerged of roads in the little rain in the last few weeks.

Many roads in Malibagh, Shantinagar, Mouchak, Arambagh, Mirpur, Gulshan, Banani areas, were submerged by water and mud.

The roads in Mouchak are completely unusable. Sometimes vehicles caught accidents for poor road condition.

Vehicles were seen moving slowly on the streets, creating huge traffic congestion in those areas. Apart from this, a good number of vehicles went out of order when water entered the engines.

School and office goers faced troubles while going to their destination due to severe traffic gridlock.

City dwellers said that rickshaw pullers and CNG-run auto rickshaw drivers demanded extra money as fare from them for rough road condition.

Sulaiman Haolader, a resident of South Banasree told Jagonews that while going to office in Paltan from his house, he remained stuck in traffic congestion as many roads went under knee-deep water.

Dwellers believe that unplanned development works are to blame for their sufferings. They said that City Corporation did not take any step despite their repeated requests.
