‘Bangladesh will now proceed to get a fair share of water’

Gil Garcetti who is known as an American politician and also served as Los Angeles County’s 40th district attorney for two terms, seems that Bangladesh will have to start working right now to get a fair share of river water.

Gil, also the Cultural Ambassador of UNESCO-IHE, the largest international graduate water education facility in the world, recently visited the Bangladesh and interviewed with Jagonews24.com.

In the interview, Gil briefly talked on the water management and also appreciated the government’s planning on it.

Gil suggested the Bangladesh government to take the preparation right now to face the future crisis.

“Bangladesh will be affected seriously if the India and China evacuated water after making dams on international rivers,” Gil added.

To recover this problem, Bangladesh will have to fix its role through discussion with Nepal, Bhutan and China, said Gil.

Gil also said, “Bangladesh has too low farmland, but much higher population. Nevertheless, Bangladesh is now a self-sufficient country in food production after doing the success in the agricultural sector. For this reason, water management should take into consideration the most seriously.”
