4 killed after drive at Ctg militant den
Four militants were killed after conducting a 19 hours combined operation named “Assault 16” at a militant den in Chittagong’s Sitakunda upazila on Thursday.
Identities of the militants could not be known immediately.
Apart from two members of SWAT were injured critically during the operation. They were first taken to Sitakunda Health Complex and later shifted to Combined Military Hospital (CMH).
According to source, police in association with Rapid action Battalion (RAB), Special Weapon and Tactic Team (SWAT) carried out the operation at a two-storey building named ‘Chayanir’ at Premtala ward of the upazila around 6am.
Several sounds of gunfire and grenade explosion were heard from the nearby areas.
Twenty members of seven families, who were trapped inside the building during the raid, were taken to safety before the final assault began this morning.
In this connection, Abdul Mannan, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Counter Terrorism unit of police told that, the operation was ended and four militants were killed in the incident.
