70 held in special drives in Ctg

Chittagong district police in a series of overnight drives arrested 70 persons including a Jamaat activist from different Upazilas of the district on Wednesday night.

Abdul Awal, Additional Superintendent of Police (Special Branch) of Chittagong district, said police detained 70 persons including a Jamaat activist from different upazilas of the district for their alleged involvement in sabotage acts and vandalism.

Police also recovered 1316 pieces of contraband yaba tablets and 15 litres of country-made liquors during the drives.

The detainees also include 62 arrest warrantees and seven accused in regular cases, he said.
