Home Economics students threaten to block road every day
Home Economics College students threatened that they would block roads every day until their demands are met.
Agitating students gave the ultimatum after a sit-in programme at Nilkhet intersection in the capital Monday.
Students have been demanding recognition of their college as a Dhaka University institute for quite some time.
On Monday, they blocked Nilkhet intersection for four hours to press home their demands.
They withdrew their block at around 2.00pm with an ultimatum to resume the blockade on Tuesday morning if their demands are not met.
“We will block the intersection every day until our demand is met,” a student Shamima Suma told jagonews24.com.
The blockade triggered acute traffic congestion at New Market and the adjacent areas. People were seen waiting hours on their vehicles as the traffic system of the whole capital was affected.
Earlier, students boycotted classes and exams and took street for the same demands on Saturday.
On that day, they announced that they would hold indefinite sit-in from Monday.
