No scope to smart card fraud: CEC

Terming smart card as a most acceptable technology, Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) KM Nurul Huda said that there is no scope to make an unauthorized duplication of the machine readable smart national identity (NID) cards.

The CEC made the remark while formally inaugurated the distribution of the smart cards at a ceremony at Chittagong circuit house on Monday.

“Smart card is not only an election commission’s property, but a national property too,” he said.

Later, CEC formally handed over the smart cards to the incumbent mayor of Chittagong City Corporation AJM Nasir Uddin, former mayor ABM Mahiuddin Chowdhury and Ekushey Padak winner academic and social scientist Anupam Sen.
