HC starts hearing Oishy’s appeal over parents’ murder

The High Court (HC) on Monday started its hearing on appeals filed by convicts including Oishy Rahman and on death references in the case filed over her parents’ murder.

A High Court division bench comprising Justice Jahangir Hossain and Justice Md Jahangir Hossain started hearing the matter.

Dhaka Speedy Trial Tribunal-3 on November 12, 2015, sentenced Oishy to death and her friend Mizanur Rahman Roni to two-year imprisonment and Taka five thousand fine over the murder of Oishy’s parents Special Branch (SB) of police inspector Mahfuzur Rahman and Swapna Rahman.

The tribunal framed separate charges over two murders and sentenced Oishy to death under both the charges.

Oishy filed appeals on December 6, 2015, seeking acquittal from both the charges.
